Teddy Hand Puppet Tutorial

This cuddly little companion is perfect for teaching young children how to knit for the first time. They’re so easy to knit, and they only need 20g of yarn to make – this includes extra yarn for sewing!  Knitted in simple garter stitch, this FREE pattern for a happy little Teddy Bear Hand Puppet is great for a gentle introduction to knitting – really simple, easy to make, in any colour you want!

You'll need a pair of 4mm needles and about 20g of any DK yarn (although any size will do, really - you can make a family of bears in all different sizes!).

Main Body:

Cast on 15sts. Knit 32 rows.

Row 33: Cast on 8 sts, knit across row.

Row 34: Cast on 8sts, knit across row.

Knit 8 rows.

Row 43: Cast off 8 sts, knit across row.

Row 44: Cast off 8 sts, knit across row.

Knit 38 rows.

Rows 83-94: Repeat rows 33-44.

Knit 32 rows. Cast off.

Sew eyes, a nose and a mouth onto the face of the bear. Sew up each side of the puppet.

Sew in all ends.
