Hi! We're a small, family team of 3 - Jayne, Amy, and Katie!

Our little shop originally started its life several years ago, as a small knitting group based in a local church. Slowly but surely, our small club grew in size: soon enough, we were looking for our own space.

We changed carpets, painted walls, and did a little DIY to make our new place extra cosy. But there was something missing...

The Shop

One of the things we had always wanted was a little shop of our own: somewhere to serve tea and biscuits, with lots of colour and warmth and laughter to share. And it just so happened that we all loved wool and buttons! So with a great eye for colour (Jayne), a head for the technical side (Amy), and a flair of what we can only call fashionable taste in craft (Katie), we were off!

It's been so wonderful to continue onwards through the years. We've been a part of so many stories of births, marriages, losses, reunions, and it's been an honour to provide that little bit of support whenever it's needed. We'll say it here first: many of our customers are the most generous people we know. From donating little hats and mittens to local hospitals, to making lifelong gifts for friends and family that will be treasured forever, it's really been an inspiration to watch so many people give back to their communities. And we'd love to help you do the same.

Find Us Here!

Come and find us at Jayne's Wool & Buttons, 1 Edison House, Fullerton Road, Glenrothes, Fife KY7 5QR, Scotland.

There are plenty of parking spaces outside the building, and a couple of disabled spaces right next to the entrance. We’ve got a long ramp outside the building, which is great for wheelchair use. The main door to the building can be quite heavy, but there’s usually someone to let you in if you need any assistance. (If you still can’t get into the building for any reason, give Jayne a quick call on 07722 388124).

Here’s an outline of our shop opening hours:

We run a number of weekly clubs in Glenrothes: come along and bring your latest knitting or crochet project! If you’re looking for knitting advice, a lovely group of welcoming friends, or just a weekly catch up with the latest gossip, we’d love to see you at our clubs. All abilities are welcome, whether you prefer to knit or crochet, or both!

Friends, family, and visitors are very welcome; if you’d like to drop in every so often, but you can’t make it every week due to other commitments, don’t worry! Feel free to come along whenever you’re available, even if it’s every other month: there are no annual/term membership fees to join our clubs. Text or call Jayne on 07722 388124 for more information.

We do know that a few of our knitting ladies prefer hot water or bring their own drinks. If you need anything extra provided or if you have any special dietary requirements, just let us know!

We now accept card payments for both club fees and shop purchases!

Knitting and Charity Donations

If you've always wanted to knit or crochet for charity, there are plenty of ways to give back. Here at Jayne's Wool & Buttons, we regularly donate items to charity on your behalf: we'll package your items, and deliver them wherever they need to get to, for free! All you have to do is drop them off at our local shop, and we'll take care of the rest. Keep an eye out on our social media pages, and we'll let you know whenever we donate your items!

We're currently accepting donations for baby items on behalf of Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy; these are collected throughout the year, and donated on a regular basis. Here's a list of where your knitting and crochet donations have helped:

  • Victoria Hospice - beautiful blankets and keepsakes for the Palliative Care Department
  • Warm hats and gloves for homelessness (via Glenrothes Foodbank)
  • Mission for Seafarers - hats and scarves
  • Humber's Shoebox Appeal - 148 knitted teddy bear puppets

Thank you so much to all those involved, and we really appreciate the work that you do. If you're thinking of knitting or crocheting items for charity, but you're not sure where to start, give us a call on 07722 388124, and we can point you in the right direction. We've got a huge selection of free patterns for charity knitting - just let us know what you'd like to donate!
