Here's how to make your very own knitted cupcake!
You will need:
1 pair of 4mm knitting needles
Four shades of DK yarn (roughly 5g of each)
1 sewing needle
Scissors
Stuffing (roughly 5g)
Abbreviations:
k = knit
p = purl
kfb = knit in the front and back of the next stitch
k2tog = knit the next 2 stitches together
st st = stocking stitch (knit one row, purl one row)
st(s) = stitch(es)
Base section:
Using shade 1, cast on 8sts.
Kfb across row. (16sts)
Knit 1 row.
(K1, kfb) across row. (24sts)
Knit 1 row.
(K2, kfb) across row. (32sts)
Knit 1 row.
(K3, kfb) across row. (40sts)
Knit 1 row.
(K4, kfb) across row. (48sts)
Knit 2 rows.
K1, P1 rib for 10 rows.
Knit 1 row.
Cake section:
Using shade 2, st st for 4 rows (beginning with a knit row).
Icing section:
Using shade 3, st st 5 rows (beginning with a purl row).
Row 32: (K4, k2tog) across row. (40sts)
Purl 1 row.
Row 34: (K3, k2tog) across row. (32sts)
Purl 1 row.
Row 36: (K2, k2tog) across row. (24sts)
Purl 1 row.
Row 38: (K1, k2tog) across row. (16sts)
Purl 1 row.
Row 40: K2tog across row. (8sts)
Purl 1 row.
Cast off.
Cherry:
Using shade 4, cast on 10sts.
St st for 10 rows.
Cut the yarn and thread it through all the stitches on the needle.
Sewing Instructions:
Sew up the seam for the base and cake sections, stuff the cupcake, and then sew up the icing section.
Weave the yarn end along remaining 3 sides of the cherry to form the bottom of the cherry. Sew the bottom of the cherry to the top of the cupcake.
Sew in all the ends.
